In the 2010 NBA Draft, the Sacramento Kings own the rights to the 5th pick. The Kings traded one of their top players in Kevin Martin and they are off a season. They have added a few other decent players, but they still have some work to do.

In a deal with the sports betting favorite, Philadelphia 76ers, the Kings recently added Samuel Dalembert to their team. Kings recently added Samuel Dalembert to their team and Andres Nocioni, a secondary scoring option, in adding Dalembert.

It could be, to make room for the newest player that Kings are planning to draft, although it is unclear why the Kings wanted Dalembert so badly. DeMarcus Cousins could be this player. Cousins is dropping down on the draft boards as there are question marks surrounding his durability and effort in getting into shape.

For the Kings, Cousins would be a scoring option, but would probably play power forward rather than his advertised “center” position. Dalembert is not much of a scoring option, although it is a defensive force. The hopes for the Kings would be that they would not clog up the lane for each other and Tyreke Evans if they played together.

With several solid options, the addition of Cousins would leave the Kings. For the Kings last season and Tyreke, Carl Landry played well. Evans averaged 20 points, 5 rebounds and nearly 6 assists in his rookie season. The Kings could be ready to step in and make some noise next season, if Cousins pans out. The Western Conference is strong, but they will have young talent leading the way.
