Philadelphia 76ers: NBA Draft Preview
In the 2010 NBA Draft, the Philadelphia 76ers own the privileges to the 2nd pick. The Philadelphia 76ers do have some talent on their roster, although they are coming off of a disappointing season. They really have the opportunity to add a solid player in this year’s draft.
Out of Ohio State, the obvious pick here in most people’s minds would be Evan Turner. In the draft, Turner may be the most NBA ready player. He is not only already prepared to take on the rigors of the NBA season, but he also has room to grow in his game. Turner can put the ball into the hoop and he is 6 foot 7 shooting guard. Unlike John Wall, he was not surrounded by a team full of potential lottery picks. Behind his own leadership throughout his stay at Ohio State, he was able to lead his team to victory.
The question is if the Philadelphia 76ers will take Evan Turner and will do the seemingly obvious thing. This draft is considered by many experts to be a “two player” draft. This is referring to the fact that there are only 2 top flight or “sure thing” prospects.
Samuel Dalembert was recently traded by the Philadelphia 76ers, making some believe that they would like to take a big man with their first pick. Their logical choice would be Derrick Favors, if they took a big man. Doug Collins, the new coach for the Philadelphia 76ers is rumored to favor Derrick Favors. The 76ers could be taking the risk of passing up on an All-Star caliber player, if they made this choice.
